What is Dual Entitlement and what can it do for us?

If you own IBM Notes/Domino licenses and are current on your maintenance, SurfDomino can help you change, at no charge, your licensing to something called "Dual Entitlement". This allows you to have your users on your on-premises Domino servers and/or on IBM's SmartCloud servers.

With Dual Entitlement licensing you get these features in IBM Connections: Use the IBM Notes client for mail and applications, IBM Verse (mail), Traveler (for mail, calendar, contacts on mobile devices), Files (store/share files on SmartCloud servers), Sametime for Instant Messaging

Examples of why to switch to Dual Entitlement (DE) Licensing
We want to use Sametime for IM but don't want to upgrade or maintain our own Sametime servers. You can enable all your users in the SmartCloud and connect them to Sametime in the Cloud

We are running out of server space or we're just acquired 50 people and don't want to put them on the on-prem servers. Register these new people in SmartCloud. Everything works the same. They are in your Domino environment except their mail is on an IBM server

We want high-availability and new features. Migrate all your Notes users to the SmartCloud. IBM provdes a free mail on-boarding tool to migrate current mailboxes to the SmartCloud. Users can coexist with no issue having some on the SmartCloud and some in your on-prem environment. Once a user is migrated, they can now use the IBM Verse mail interface and Traveler from the SmartCloud and get to their mail anywhere they can get an internet connection. Of course the Notes client continues to work without issue and they still use all your Notes or Domino apps you have on your on-prem servers.

You can upgrade your IBM licensing at additional cost and get more features without building any of your own infrastructure. Features such as: on-line Meetings (you can have your own meeting room to use any time with anyone, inside or outside your organizaton), Communities, Activities, Blogs, Wikkis

You can switch to DE now, while IBM's offer still stands, and make no changes to anything in your envornment. Someday you may want to leverage the SmartCloud.
